Images 1-2 = These hyperrealistic unrealistic flying fish are much more captivating in person than I’d expected. You have to get right up close to see they are indeed oils and not photoshopped prints. Artist Jeong Woojae (@sabwoo83) has also done this with dogs. Please do penguins next!

Images 3-4 = If you like the Swarovski crystal-eyed collage works by Rashaad Newsome (@RashaadNewsome) then rush to the Hayward to see a roomful of them, and his wild vogue video, at the In the Black Fantastic show. But while you’re at Josh Lilly, ponder whether Bassam Al-Sabah (@this.isnowhere) has found, made or 3D modelled a series of small organic sculptures, and let light and paint trick your eyes with the scraped colour studies by Alex Olsen (@alexolson___).

Images 5-6 = Ro Robertson (@ro_robertson_) makes ‘body’ sculptures that blend sinuous shapes with pools of luscious blues that contrast the rusted steel. I love these works, but I’m put off by the dirty socks and undergarments they stretch and hang all over them. They’re a reference to gendered and Queer motifs, but I can’t escape my first impression that it’s simply morning-after mess from a debauched party thrown by the gallery’s teenage interns.
