Hi. I’m Darren. Welcome to my site.
I love art. Mainly contemporary, but any art is good art. Usually. I’ve been collecting for 20 years, and being an independent critic is pretty much all I do now after I decided during the lockdowns to leave the corporate world behind.
I simply can’t get enough of all the museums, galleries and art fairs that London, and occasionally other locales, has to offer. I started this site so I could share what I find with you.
Check in on Mondays for a weekly Roundup of what’s happening in London. Full length reviews are published as I see stuff worth examining in detail. The recommendations and reviews are completely independent and entirely my own, always written after I’ve seen the show. I shot all of the photos on my iPhone.
Nothing on my site is ever sponsored or paid for.
As a general rule, I follow the Jay Rayner philosophy and try not to write bad reviews about art I don’t like. Art appreciation is highly personal and very subjective. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean you won’t like it. If something is missing from my site it’s either because I haven’t seen it yet, or maybe it just wasn’t to my taste. Unless it’s a ticketed show or I’ve been invited to a press preview. Then you’ll find out how I truly feel.
So if you love Art… follow, like, comment, bookmark and tag your friends too. Especially if you’re a Londoner! I’m happy you’re here.

Why, yes. I would gladly let you pay me to write about art.
Show texts, gallery and artist interviews are all commissions that I accept for placement on your (or other 3rd party) sites. Please contact me via this form with a brief proposal and timeline and I’ll get back in touch to discuss.

Yup, now there’s a newsletter! It contains helpful links to the latest Roundup and my other recently published reviews… but there’s so much more!
The additional content that you won’t find anywhere else includes: art world insights, a brief overview of why other shows I’ve seen didn’t make the Roundup, a list of upcoming shows I’m excited about and Anonymous Art Anecdotes.
Published weekly on Tuesdays at noon.
It’s FREE!
