2022 - Issue 13

Showcasing artists and works that caught my attention.

Alice Black (@AliceBlackGallery) has moved to Fitzrovia and put on a crackin’ housewarming show featuring highly exquisite samples from across her roster.

Seven’ until 15 May

Paradise Row (@ParadiseRowProjects) is a one-year, not-for-profit project and the current exhibition curated by Mazzy-Mae Green (@MazzyMaeGreen) impressively fits 22 works within the small space without feeling (too) overwhelming.

City Entwined - Part I’ until 09 April

Image 3 = Gabriela Pelczarska (@GabrielaPelczarska) (sculpture, front), Bruce Cayonne (@iamthesignman) (sign, back)

Image 4 = Billy Fraser (@billy_fraser) (L), India Nielsen (@indianielson) (R)

Group shows usually have very loose themes. This show has chosen something specific, and you may be pleasantly shocked to learn it wasn’t an April Fool’s: Suffragette Jujitsu.

44 GRS Gallery is accessed from inside a cafe opposite the British Museum.

The Comrades They Were Brave’ until 10 Apr

Image 5 = Iain Hales (@IainHales) (L), Laura Moreton-Griffiths (@LauraMoretonGriffiths) (R)

Image 6 = Laura Moreton-Griffiths (@LauraMoretonGriffiths) (L), Cecilia Sjoholm (@cecilia_sjoholm) (R)

Artists Studio Company (ASC) (@ASC_studios) is a charity that provides affordable workspaces to artists and makers. Their South London Gallery (@ASCGallery) is currently showcasing a mix of emerging and established artists. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

Patternicity’ until 23 Apr

Image 7 = Ian Dawson (@demondawson) (sculpture, front), Alicia Paz (@AliciaPazStudio) (L), Bernard Cohen (R)

Image 8 = Livia Marin (@liviamarin_xf) (sculpture, front), Clare Dudeney (@claredudeney) (wall)

The latest show at Korean Cultural Centre UK (@KCCUK_exhibition) features 3 artists who explore space and place. I was particularly fascinated by the way Seungwon Jung (@jung.seung.won) examines geological layering through a blend of photography, digital and textile. (Images 9-10)

Drifting Terrain’ until 21 May

PLUS — don’t forget to check What’s On so you don’t miss any of the great shows closing soon.
