Personal and professional partners Andrés Clase and Francesca Fiumano (@andresandfrancesca) have relocated to Pall Mall and are welcoming friends new and old with a group exhibition featuring work by everyone they represent. ‘One by One’ at Fiumano Clase (@FiumanoClase) until 30 Mar

Images 3-4 = Karolina Albricht (@KarolinaAlbricht) makes abstracts from oil and “other stuff” — which could be shredded jute or dried paint or even grit from her studio floor. These colourful ‘starter-sized’ works really drew me in, revealing their fascinating mixture of layers and textures that often extend off the canvas.

Images 5-6 = The incredibly vibrant colours on the stark white canvas aren’t just paint. Nicholas Hlobo (@Nicholas_Hlobo) slashes and sews his work back together, resulting in a zipper-like Frankenstein effect. Although sports fans might see baseball seams.

Images 7-8 = Jonathan Kelly (@JonathanKelly_) makes shockingly shimmery abstracts based off of symbols you may or may not recognise. These perfectly flat works imply depths that aren’t actually there, which sit in stark contrast to his spiral works that are indeed made up of many visible layers of canvas, fabric and lots of acrylic.

Image 9 = Jonathan Jones’ scathing 1-star Guardian review is spot on, so just read that. But if you’ve never seen a Damien Hirst (@DamienHirst) formaldehyde work, then yeah, go ahead and have a look. Just know that once upon a time his ideas weren’t as old and tired as the shark looks now, which makes this experience even more depressing for those like me who saw the original YBA Sensation show.
