2022 - Issue 07

Showcasing artists and works that caught my attention.

Images 1-2 = Perishable Rush (@PerishableRush) makes 2D and 3D collage masks using paper from pulled down posters and other scraps from the street. I really loved the skulls.

UNMASKED at BSMT Space (@BSMTSpace) until 20 Feb

Image 3 = I’ve become increasingly fond of Tabula Rasa Gallery (@tabularasa_gallery) — which showcases East and South-East Asian artists in Europe — because the works on display open my eyes to a much wider world and art experiences than you’ll usually find in West End galleries.

If We Delete Green, If We Start Caring About Plants’ by Ma Haijiao (@Ma_Haijiao) until 09 Mar

Image 4 = If I’m being entirely honest, I’m probably including this show just so that I can type out the title: Rootin’-Tootin’ Sour-Bootin’ — which is even more fun to say out loud in a Texan drawl! But seriously, the imagery and titles of the works by Victoria V Nunley (@vvnunley) made me laugh, and we all need more humour in our lives.

At Moosey Art (@MooseyArt) until 06 Mar

Image 5 = Showcasing incredibly detailed watercolours you can get lost in for hours by Juliette Losq (@Juliette_Losq) and sculpture that pushes the boundaries of both technology and social commentary by Stuart Sandford (@StuartSandford) — ‘Elysian Fields’ is another outstanding 2-person show by the always dependable James Freeman Gallery (@JamesFreemanGallery) until 05 Mar

If group shows are your thing, then paper. at BEERS London (@beerslondon) until 26 Feb (Image 6) has 55 works from 32 artists to chose from and #Blacklisted at Stour Galleries (@stour.galleries) until 28 Feb (Image 7) is a takeover with a diverse range of works from 8 artists represented by @blacklisted.galleries

Images 8-9 = There is so much art in the world and so many London galleries trying to show it all, that you can randomly walk into one and ‘discover’ current work from a 75-year old artist with a 40+ year career. I was absolutely blown away by the oils (and justified asking prices) of Kevin Sinnot (@Kevin_Sinnott

Liebestod’ at Flowers Gallery (@FlowersGallery) until 26 Feb
